Near drowning at Pensacola Beach; one in hospital

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) — One person was flown by air ambulance to the hospital after a near drowning at Pensacola Beach.

Escambia County said crews were dispatched at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday.

The patient was pulled from the water about one mile east of Park East on Via de Luna Drive.

A county spokesperson said bystanders brought the person to shore, where a lifeguard and Escambia County Fire Rescue personnel started medical treatment.
