Allene Morgan Roddy died on March 11, 2020, and on that same date received with joy her angel band.

She was a native of Dayton, Tn., and was born on May 11, 1928, to the late Daniel and Grace Morgan.

In 1947 she met and married Kenneth Ray Roddy, also a native of Dayton and a young Naval seaman who had returned from World War II.  They were lovingly married for 59 years until his death in 2006.  Their family lived with great fun and their children were gifted with a profound legacy of love given by the living example of their parents.  The Roddys lived in East Ridge for 49 years before moving to East Brainerd where Mrs. Roddy lived for 19 years.

Mrs. Roddy graduated nursing school at age 50 and loved being the oldest member of her class!  With the Lord by her side, she spent the next 20 years in service to others. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Roddy was a beach family.  They knew her heart was at the beach and felt truly blessed to enjoy 24 summer vacations in Navarre Beach.

As a longtime member of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member.  For the last several years she was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and also the Faith Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Roddy and her son, Jerry Roddy.  She was also preceded in death by five brothers, including her twin brother, Allen Morgan and Jack, Wallace, Johnny and Bill Morgan.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Phillips of Chattanooga; son, Danny Roddy of Richmond, Va.; daughter-in-law, Janet Roddy of Chattanooga. Mrs. Roddy is also survived by grandchildren and spouses, Hunter Roddy, Sarah Roddy and Katie and Jay Polson, all of Chattanooga, and Matthew and Rene Roddy of Richmond, Va., as well as great-grandchildren, Brynlee White and Roman Roddy, both of Chattanooga, and dear sister-in-law, Cathy Morgan of Rock Spring, Ga.

Her family wishes to thank preferred Care of Chattanooga along with her dear caregivers: Deborah, Drema, Sharon, Courtney, Andrea and Venecia.  Love and care was also provided by Suzan Clayton and Janet Roddy.

Services for Mrs. Roddy will be held in the East Brainerd chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday, March, 15, at 2 p.m. with Dr. C. Richard Mason and Reverend Mike Lofton officiating.  Interment will follow and take place at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tn.

Her family will receive friends and family on Saturday, March 14, from 4-7 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

The family of Mrs. Roddy is requesting, if one so desires, that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, hospiceofchattanooga.org, or the Beyond Measure campaign at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church, 6611 East Brainerd Road, 37421.

Arrangements are in the care of the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.  Thoughts and memories may be shared at www.chattanoogaeastbrainerdchapel.com.
